National Rural Health Association (NRHA) invites Californians to apply for a scholarship to attend the NRHA Rural Minority and Multicultural Health Conference in Reno Nevada, May 15-16, 2006.

Californians with a critical need for financial support with conference expenses are encouraged to apply for scholarships, which are being sponsored by The California Endowment and the National Rural Health Association. Twenty scholarships will be awarded on a first come–first served basis to people who meet the eligibility criteria, specified on the enclosed application form, and who are unable to attend the Rural Minority and Multicultural Health Conference without such support. Only ONE scholarship will be awarded per organization.

In an effort to foster collaboration within communities, five scholarships will be given to non-health community members. The scholarships will help expose these community members to health issues related to minority populations in their community. It will also encourage their participation in resolving these issues through positive solutions.

Scholarship recipients will receive the conference fee, two nights hotel accommodations on the Master Account, and a $450 stipend to cover meals, air and ground transportation.

Scholarship recipients will be notified of their award upon confirmation of their registration. Scholars selected are expected to provide their own funds to pay for their remaining expenses beyond the $450 stipend provided to participate in the conference.
