Astrological sign: Capricorn
Favorite quote: Le ore del mattino hanno l'oro in bocca (The morning hours are the most precious of the day). - Italian proverb
Favorite book: I always have a hard time picking my favorite anything, since I have lots of favorites, but I am reading a book now called I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, which I'm really enjoying so far. Another book that I'll never forget is A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. I always recommend this book to people I know, because in its strange, grotesque way, it's very entertaining and funny.
Hobbies: Now that I've graduated from college, I'm starting to enjoy reading as a hobby again. I also like to snowshoe, listen to music, try out new recipes, and go dancing. I have yet to take a dance class, but I would really like to learn the art of belly dancing.
Favorite rural destination in California: Iron Mountain in El Dorado County, where I had my first snowshoe trip, was a very beautiful rural destination in California that I definitely wouldn't mind visiting again.
How long with CSRHA: About a year and a half.
Positions held with CSRHA: Research & Development Intern
Current position and responsibilities: As Administrative Assistant, I am responsible for all the administrative and clerical work at the office. I provide assistance and support to the staff for special projects and send correspondence to members, legislators, board members and others. I really enjoy assisting with the Annual Rural Health Conference and coordinating the NRHA Policy Institute visits. As part of my administrative position, I also oversee and maintain mailing lists, schedules, files, invoices and general information.
Favorite CSRHA memory: I enjoyed going to the State Capitol with the rest of the staff for the legislative briefings we coordinated in the Spring of 2007. I had never been inside the building before this, and it is amazing! It was a really fun experience for me.
Hopes and goals for 2008: Because our staff is so small, we all work hard to manage the many projects on our plates. I know that our collective goal is to work together to help each other out and keep up the energy for the new year. Personally, I would like to continue learning more about the inner-workings of our non-profit organization. I would like to get to the point where I am able to apply my creativity to strategies that will generate positive changes for 2008. I'm excited to help brainstorm and draft new membership development strategies and I'd really love to help inform and recruit many new members to CSRHA!
