Favorite quote: The unexamined life is not worth living. – Socrates

Favorite book: Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen

Hobbies: photography, traveling, reading, hiking, camping, and playing a mean game of Scrabble.

Favorite rural destination in California: The summit of Mt. Shasta. There is no greater view than at 14,179 feet, no better feeling than writing your name in the infamous “summit book,” and nothing like depleted oxygen levels and a killer calf cramp to make the descent a gleeful slide down the mountain.

How long with CSRHA: Almost six months.

Positions held with CSRHA: Policy & Research Intern.

Current position and responsibilities: “Program Associate,” or reader, writer, drafter, editor, and fixer of the occasional printer jam. Currently, I am revising the USDA Capital Campaign Toolkit, editing fact sheets, finishing one policy brief (while beginning another), assisting with a few grant reports, and catching any curveballs that come my way.

Favorite CSRHA memory: The day I ceremoniously gathered my belongings and moved them from the intern desk at the front of the office to the staff desk in the back of the office.

Hopes and goals for 2008: I think 2008 is going to be a great year for CSRHA! I will be heading to Washington D.C. at the end of January for National Rural Health Association’s Policy Institute, and I hope that the experience will provide me with a greater understanding of health policy in both California and the nation. I also look forward to meeting more CSRHA members and working closely with the many wonderful individuals involved with this organization!
