Since 2003 Allan Katz has served as executive director of the Community Health Alliance of Humboldt-Del Norte, a network of health care providers, consumers, employers, and community leaders and stakeholders working to increase access and improve the quality of care, build a more integrated health care system, and engage and empower consumers in improving their health and their health care.
From 1991 to 1993 he was a consultant specializing in strategic and financial planning for community-based and public providers of health care, social services, and housing for underserved populations, assisting rural health clinics, hospitals, federally qualified health centers, public health departments, social service providers, and housing authorities and other government agencies in the areas of market analysis, business planning, facilities financing, grant writing, and venture development. His focus has been to help providers to develop managed care affiliations, and to optimize the use of Medicaid and Medicare revenues in order to build networks and expand health services. Mr. Katz has also provided management consultation for nonprofit and public agencies.
From 1976 to 1984, Allan Katz was community organizer, development officer, grant writer, and executive director for several community-based northern California non-profit organizations in community economic development, housing, and social services. These organizations include Redwood Community Action Agency in Eureka, California and Southern Humboldt Working Together in Garberville, California. Mr. Katz is a graduate of Harvard University and served in the Peace Corps in Malaysia.
From 1985 to 1991, Mr. Katz was the executive director of Redwoods Rural Health Center, a community clinic in northern California. During that time the clinic achieved financial stability, expanded its primary care program, added dental and mental health programs, and built two new facilities financed by state, federal, and private lenders.
