I have served as Chief Executive Officer for Mountain Valleys Health Centers, Inc. (formerly Big Valley Medical Services) in Bieber since August 1987 after retiring from the United States Coast Guard as a commissioned officer. We currently operate six clinics in the rural mountains of northeastern California. Two of the sites are designated as farmworker clinics. They are all designated as frontier areas and are the only providers of primary care and dentistry in their communities. I was raised as a farmworker in the Yakima valley and have a strong connection with that population.
I was a founding board member of the California State Rural Health Association, having previously served as its president. I currently sit on the board for Northern Sierra Rural Health Network and Shasta Consortium of Community Health Centers. I have been active on various task forces and advisory committees for the California Department of Health Services as well as several committees for CPCA.
I believe that my experience as a clinic CEO over the past 22 years and involvement with other associations and committees will enable me to be a positive contributor to the board of directors for CSRHA.
