This workshop will empower and inform communities to take full advantage of available funding opportunities and to learn effective ways to write a successful grant application. The workshop will include grant writing tips, activities and funding opportunities. This workshop is limited to 50 participants, first-come, first-served and will be held November 17, 2009.
- Best Practices in eHealth to Improve the Health of Rural Populations, Speranza Avram, Christine Martin, CTEC and Jenny Kattlove, The Children’s Partnership.
This presentation will include providing participants information on The California Telemedicine and eHealth Center (CTEC) seven-step telemedicine program development model that assists and guides organizations through the planning and development process. It will also highlight best practices to ensure funding and sustainability in regards to how telehealth in schools can increase access to acute and specialty care for children.
- Healthcare Industry Reform, One Rural Community at a Time, Mike Kaminaka, Physicians Health/Major Medical Integrated, Inc.
This presentation will investigate how a community of providers can triangulate (hospital, physician, and community) to create a self-sufficient healthcare delivery network with little to no disruption to the providers or the commerical insurers.
- Strategic Restructuring for Community Clinics: Options and Experiences with Partnerships and Mergers, Melissa Schoen, California Healthcare Foundation.
This presentation will explore various types of partnerships now being used by community clinics and regional consortia, including administrative consolidation and merger. It will also examine what opportunities strategic restructuring might offer clinics seeking to strengthen their positions now and remain viable in the years to come and learn what factors contribute to its success.
- Meeting the Challenges in California Rural Health Clinics, Gail Nickerson, Adventist Health
This presentation will provide background information and the latest information about the new federal legislation for RHC's, Stimulus Funding as it relates to RHC's, and emergining strategies for collaboration among rural providers to ensure that the patients they serve recieve the best quality and most cost-effective care possible.
- Exploring New Outreach Trends: A National Needs Assessment on Outreach Programs and the Farmworkers They Serve, Adam Sharma, Farmworker Health Services, Inc.
This presentation will focus on the topics impacting Migrant Health Centers nationwide. Data findings will include new and emergining farmworker populations, outreach program trends and challenges, farmworker health needs and barriers to care, cultural competency needs, and also what is going to happen next.
- The Electronic Record: Planning is Crucial, Lynn Edwards, Bear Valley Community Healthcare District
This presentation focus on providing participants with the knowledge to plan and implement an electronic medical record in an acute care and clinic setting. Topics will include discussion on organizing an "EHR Committee," software and hardware selection process, program compatibility issues, workflow, access, retention and many more. Real examples will be used to demonstrate how to overcome hurldes with implementation.
