In November of 1919 President Wilson announced recognition of the first Armistace Day. "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the thing from which it has freed us and becuase of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations," he declared. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower renamed the holiday Veteran's Day, in honor of all Veterans. Veteran's Day serves as a day for American's to honor those that have and continue to serve for our country, their patriotism and thier willingness to serve for the common good.
Our Annual Conference happens to fall on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2010. To honor all Veterans and Active Service Members we invite you to send us any pictures of Veterans or Active Service Members. We will be highlighting these individuals in a slideshow at our Annual Rural Champion's Luncheon. We look forward to seeing you all soon and honoring those that have and continue to serve for our country.
