CSRHA is proud to hold its annual Silent Auction during the 11th Annual Rural Health Conference, Embracing Change for the Future of Rural Health, scheduled on November 15-16, 2011. Funds raised from the Silent Auction will be used to support a makeover of the CSRHA website to make it more up-to-date and user friendly for visitors.
We're in the process of collecting merchandise for the event, and we are writing to request your assistance in making the 11th Annual Silent Auction event a huge success!! By donating an item, you'll be making a tax deductible contribution that will help advance CSRHA’s mission of linking rural individuals and organizations together to facilitate information exchange, collaboration and advocacy to promote health rural communities. Donors will be listed in the conference program, and the merchandise you give will be on display in the exhibit hall throughout the event.

Pease fax your donation form to 916.453.0783 no later than Friday, November 4, 2011. You are encouraged to bring the item with you to the conference. If you are unable to attend the conference, items may be mailed to the CSRHA office at: 555 Capitol Mall, Suite 750 | Sacramento, CA | 95814.
All mail-in donations must be received by Friday, November 4, 2011 to be included in this year’s event. CSRHA also welcomes monetary donations if you are unable to bring or mail in merchandise.

The California State Rural Health Association is requesting nominations for the 2011 Rural Champion Awards. These awards will be presented at the 2011 Annual Rural Health Conference during the Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 12:25-1:45pm. If you have not yet registered, register now. We look forward to you joining us in honoring individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to improving health in rural California.
Honorees will receive an award from one of the following categories:
- Rural Champion in Community Leadership: The CSRHA Rural Champion in Community Leadership award recognizes members who have made a significant contribution to advancing rural health at the local or regional level. The recipient is recognized by peers for demonstrated leadership characteristics, commitment, and distinguished service.
- Rural Champion in Legislative Service: The CSRHA Rural Champion in Legislative Service award will be made to either public officials, their staff, or state advocates who have demonstrated leadership and commitment to advancing rural health at the state level. Pictured to the right is 2010 Award Winner Assembly Member V. Manual Perez and CSRHA's immediate Past President Earl Ferguson MD, PhD.

We want your pictures! CSRHA invites both amateur and experienced photographers to submit theirphotographs of rural health and rural life for CSRHA's 5th Annual Rural Health Conference Photography Contest.
There are two categories with which to submit entries:
- Rural Health:
Subjects that either demonstrate the provision of healthcare or that demonstrate healthy lifestyles.
- Rural Life:
Rural landscapes, communities, animals, people, etc.
The Rural Health category is of particular interest to CSRHA. Photographs in this category demonstrate the goal and mission of CSRHA.
CSRHA will print and mount the photos for display at the annual conference. Conference participants will select the winning photographs from each category, and the winners will be announced on the final day of the conference. All photos will be entered into the silent auction.
PHOTO CONTEST RULES & INSTRUCTIONS:
- All photos must be submitted electronically to Michelle Magana by Friday, October 28, 2011.
- The photographer must hold all rights to the photograph.
- Must be registered for the Annual Conference to submit photographs
- Must be present to win
- Photographers are limited to submitting a maximum of 5 photographs in the contest
- If the subject includes recognizable individuals, the photographer must secure a release from the subject, or, in the case of a minor, the subject's parent or guardian. Click here to download a sample release form.
- Scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable.
- Digital photographs should be high resolution and submitted in .jpeg, .jpg, or .gif format.
- Each photograph must be submitted with a caption that identifies where and when the photo was taken.
By entering the photo contest, entrants grant CSRHA the right to publish and use the submitted photogrpahs in print or electronic format for promotion of CSRHA programs, products and services.
