Is CSRHA a government
organization?
No, CSRHA is a public, nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation
Why is rural
health a unique issue? California is one of the few states that has an immense rural population
and geographic region (nearly four million people in 55 of 58 counties
that have some rural population) but is dominated politically by a few
urban areas with large populations. CSRHA works to bring individuals in
these communities together to share one voice that can be heard alongside
urban communities.
What does CSRHA
consider rural? CSRHA recognizes that there are many definitions of rural, which are
connected to state and federal programs. The Califronia Rural Health Policy
Council defines rural as any area with a population of less than 250 people
per square mile with no incorporated area larger than 50,000 people.
What does CSRHA
do? CSRHA works to preserve and enhance health in rural California by
advocating for rural Californians and providing services, programs and
information to health professionals in rural communities.
