California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED) is a resource for local economic development issues, resources, and contacts, dedicated to helping its members deliver economic development services to their communities. CALED is located online at www.caled.org

California Center for Health Improvements (CCHI) is a prevention-focused, health policy center. CCHI is located online at www.cchi.org. The CCHI Policy MATTERS publication indexes a large number of successful prevention policies related to the major determinants of health. California Healthcare Association (CHA) is the state trade association representing the interests of hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, and other health care providers in California through leadership and advocacy. California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) is a private, independent philanthropy that serves, in part, as a resource for MediCal news, research, and analysis. CHCF is located at www.chcf.org/. California Institute for Rural Studies (CIRS), a private, nonprofit research organization, is a particularly good source for data on agricultural health and safety. CIRS is located at www.cirsinc.org/.

California Mental Health Directors Association (CMHDA) is the association for county mental health agency directors. CMHDA includes a section, which promotes an agenda specifically for small and rural counties. CMHDA is located online at http://www.cmhda.org/.

California Primary Care Association is a statewide trade organization for clinics, including safety net and open door facilities. It is dedicated to facilitating access to care and providing a forum for primary health care centers. CPCA is located online at http://www.cpca.org/.

California Primary Care Consortium (CPCC) works to ensure the recruitment and retention of qualified primary care providers in California. CPCC is located online at http://www.cpcc.org/.

California Program on Access to Care (CPAC) is the implementation of California's Title XXI Healthy Families Program and addresses issues related to access to health care for low-income populations. CPAC is located online at http://www.ucop.edu/cprc/cpac.html.

California Telehealth and Telemedicine Center is a private organization within the framework of CHA (see above) that works to promote the use of information and communication technologies as tools to improve and expand access to health services and information in California. California Workforce Association (CWA) is the lead association for workforce development professionals in California. CWA is located online at http://calworkforce.org/.

Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, University of North Carolina is one of the nation’s oldest and largest health services research centers. The center encompasses an interdisciplinary program of research, consultation, technical assistance and training focusing on the accessibility, adequacy, organization, cost and effectiveness of health care services. Community Health Resource and Development Center

The National Health Services Corp is a unique group of dedicated and caring clinicians providing primary health care to adults and children in the communities of greatest need across the Nation. National Rural Health Association (NRHA) is the national organization working to improve health for rural Americans through advocacy , communication, education, and research. NRHA is located online at http://www.nrharural.org/.

Northeastern California Telecommunications Partnership (coNnECTuP!) is an organization established by the NSRHN (see above) to develop telehealth and telemedicine infrastructure and services in the northeastern section of the state. CoNnECTuP is located online at www.connectup.org.

Northern Sierra Rural Health Network (NSRHN) is an organization working to improve healthcare in rural and frontier areas of northeastern California through managed care, telemedicine, and community wellness. NSRHN is located online at www.nsrhn.org.

The Project HOPE Walsh Center for Rural Health Analysis is one of six rural research centers funded by the Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP)as part of its Rural Health Research Centers program.Together, the work of these centers provides ORHP with the information needed to understand the myriad of health-related issues facing rural America and to assess the affect of major health policy initiatives on this population. Regional Council of Rural Counties (RCRC) is a statewide advocacy association working on behalf of rural county governments in California. RCRC is located online at http://www.rcrcnet.org.

The Rural Policy Research Institute (RUPRI) conducts policy-relevant research and facilitates public dialogue to assist policymakers in understanding the rural impacts of public policies and programs. Many policies which are not explicitly "rural policies" nevertheless have substantial implications for rural areas, and RUPRI is dedicated to understanding and articulating these implications at www.rupri.org.

Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) is dedicated to helping community-based organizations and rural governments increase their own capacity to implement solutions to their problems, through a wide range of housing and environmental services. South Carolina Rural Health Research Center's (SCRHR) mission is to increase the knowledge of the persistent inequities in health status among the populations of the rural US with an emphasis on factors related to socioeconomic status, race and ethnicity, and access to healthcare services. WWAMI Rural Health Research Center
(WWAMI RHRC) is one of six rural research centers funded by the federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) to perform policy-oriented research on issues related to rural health care. Major areas of inquiry being conducted at the WWAMI RHRC focus on (a) the training and supply of rural health care providers and the content and outcomes of the care they provide; (b) the availability and quality of care for rural women and children, including obstetric and perinatal care; and (c) access to high-quality care for vulnerable and minority rural populations.
