The
Resource Assistance Center offers a nationally acclaimed website,
and a one-stop location to receive information that is helpful to
the rural health community and the general public. It includes:
Consultation
and Mentorship Assistance
Staff and members are available to assist with answering questions,
solving problems and connecting members to others with similar interests.
Among the areas of assistance include:
- Providing
letters of support for grants
- Assistance
with funding opportunities and connecting to funders and foundations
- Linking
members with similar interests for mentorship and collegial support
- Individual
consultation for rural health issues specific to an organization
or community
MEDIA
RELATIONS ASSISTANCE CENTER
CSRHA
expands its reach through working with the media to promote rural
health. Below is a list of media related
activities:
- Write
and publish community-based rural health articles
- Promote
rural health issues through the cultivation of a media network
- Monitor
and cover state and federal rural health news
- Media

of press releases for members
INFORMATION
& EDUCATION SHARING
The Rural Health Advocate, the signature electronic news
publication of CSRHA is developed as a bimonthly educational and
information resource for the public and members. It includes newly
generated information and resources for rural health in California.
With a readership of over 2,000, it connects our readers to the
efforts of those working in rural communities, current news, industry
information, consumer topics and legislation.
The Annual Rural Health Conference is offered each year in
December to members and non-members alike. Over the course of three
days, attendents have an opportunity to participate in a variety
of workshops, lectures, seminars and sessions dedicated specifically
to rural health. The first day is for rural health related organizational
meetings. The second day is a legislative and governmental day.
The third day include educational tracks for clinicians, administrators
and community members to learn about current rural health issues.
Other Educational Trainings are available each year in local
communities. Topics include advocacy training, fundraising, bioterrorism
planning etc.
ADVOCACY
& POLICY ANALYSIS (State & Federal)
CSRHA is recognized as an effective voice and advocate for rural
through its strong presence with state and federal policy and decision
makers. Activities that support CSRHA's membership include:
- Advocacy
monitoring and reporting
- Staff
and committee recommendations for supporting rural health legislation
- Testifying
on behalf of rural health
- Advocacy
training in rural communities
- Legislative
day at annual conference
- Close
work with the California Legislative Rural Caucus
- Educational
symposiums for legislators and government representatives

work with National Rural Health Association for federal legislation
- Development
of policy briefs and fact sheets specific to rural issues
- Close
working relationship with federal agencies
STATEWIDE
LEADERSHIP ASSISTANCE & DEVELOPMENT
In order for California to have a strong rural health program and
opportunity for advancement, CSRHA supports leadership at the local,
regional, state and federal levels among individuals, providers
and agencies to advance our mission. It accomplishes this through
the following activities:
- Community
board training programs (annual conference track)
- Identify
and seek new funding opportunities for rural California
- Participate
in FORHP Leadership Program
- Regional
Rural Roundtable Development (Southern California, Central California)
- Rural
Health Research Network Development
- Partnership
with State Office of Rural Health and Rural Health Policy Council
to address statewide rural health issues
