CalRHIO Funding Opportunity for Health Information Exchange
DUE DATE:
MUST BE EMAILED NO LATER THAN MAY 25, 2007. 5:00 P.M.

The California Safety Net Community Advancement of Health Information Exchange Grant project is a statewide initiative of the California Regional Health Information Organization (CalRHIO). Supported by funding from the Blue Shield of California Foundation, the initiative seeks to improve the quality and efficiency of health care through the use of information technology and development of secure health information data exchange systems in California’s safety net provider communities.

CalRHIO will fund up to $85,000 each to four safety net organizations, to strengthen, advance, or expand existing health information exchange initiatives in an effort to improve clinical efficiency, quality of care, and patient safety. Health information exchange (HIE) is defined as the mobilization of healthcare information electronically across organizations within a region or community. HIE Grants will be made for specific projects, which can be reasonably completed within 12 months, relating to one of four areas of interest:

  1. Laboratory results/orders,
  2. Medication history/e-Prescribing,
  3. Access to hospital clinical data, or
  4. Electronic specialty referrals (e.g. clinic- hospital, clinic-physician).
