CSRHA Appoints Executive Director!

The California State Rural Health Association (CSRHA) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Desirée Rose as the association’s Executive Director as of March 17, 2008.  Over the past 4 ½ years, Ms. Rose has served as CSRHA’s Development Director, and has been responsible for overseeing all aspects of fundraising, membership development, and strategic communications.  

Ms. Rose is very excited to work on behalf of rural California in her role as Executive Director. “I have had the pleasure of working with many of CSRHA’s members over the past four years,” says Ms. Rose, “and I look forward to working with our membership even more closely to advance collaborative strategies for improving health in rural California.”

"As President of the Board and someone who has been active in rural health issues for over 20 years, I am very excited about the selection of Desirée as the Executive Director of CSRHA," says Kathy Yarbrough, RN CSRHA President. "Desirée will bring youthfulness and energy to our Association and to rural health issues in general. She has voiced a strong desire to engage a stronger participation in the citizens we serve, and to increase the voice of our younger constituents. Congratulations to your success."

As CSRHA Executive Director, Ms. Rose is committed to:

• building the capacity of CSRHA to expand and enhance existing programs and services and to develop new programs and resources for those serving rural residents;
  
  
• improving strategic communication and outreach efforts to raise statewide awareness of the importance and benefits of supporting healthy and viable rural communities; and
  
  
• continuing the collaborative spirit of CSRHA by working closely with rural health stakeholders and advocates to advance efforts that bring about long-term benefits for rural communities through improved rural health policy and legislation.

This, coupled with her knowledge of, and passion for the organization and its members made her selection as Executive Director an exciting decision for us,” stated Kiki Nocella, PhD, Chair of the Search Committee and President-elect of the Board.
