Rural Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence and Stalking Assistance Program
Deadline: February 18th, 2010

The Rural sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking assistance program furthers the Department’s mission by supporting projects designed to address and prevent sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking in rural jurisdictions. Applicants are limited to states, indian tribes, local governments, and nonprofit, public or private entities including faith-based, community and tribal nonprofit organizations.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Invites Proposals for Communities Creating Healthy Environments: Improving Access to Healthy Foods and Safe Places to Play in Communities of Color
Deadline: February 25, 2010

Communities Creating Healthy Environments is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that aims to prevent childhood obesity by increasing access to healthy foods and safe places to play in communities of color. The program is designed to advance RWJF's efforts to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic by 2015 by supporting diverse, community-based organizations and federally chartered tribal nations in the development and implementation of effective, culturally competent policy initiatives to address childhood obesity at the local level. Eligible applicants must have a track record of at least two years of successful community organizing and policy advocacy to address health-related problems in communities of color. Both the leadership and membership or constituencies of any applicant organization should reflect the communities they seek to serve. Youth-led organizing groups and community-based groups with youth-organizing components are strongly encouraged to apply.

Center for Collaborative Planning: WHLRegional Program
Deadline: March 1, 2010

This year, up to 20 women leaders working in nonprofits in Madera, Merced, Stanislaus, and San Joaquin counties will be selected to attend a year long leadership development program.
The viability of nonprofit organizations depends on leaders who have a sense of purpose and passion to succeed by also requires a healthy does of optimism and wielding of critical nonprofit management tools. WHL San Joaquin Valley seeks to accomplish these goals by providing an environment that strengthens community and provides training and technical assistance in leadership development and management skills.

The Kresge Foundation: Health Clinic Opportunity Fund
Deadline: March 1, 2010

The Kresge Foundation’s Caring Communities initiative supports safety-net institutions providing prevention, primary, acute, and chronic care to underserved populations in rural and urban settings. The initiative’s Health Clinic Opportunity Fund is a national grant program developed in response to the rapid increase in the number of people losing their jobs and health insurance as a result of the economic crisis. Grants ranging from $75,000 to $150,000 per year for a maximum of two years will be provided to build the operational capacity of charitable health clinics, public-health clinics, and those designated as federally qualified health center look-alikes. (Federally qualified health centers are not eligible to apply.)

Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Tribal Self-Governance Program

The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) has announced approximately $391 million in funding available to federally recognized tribes. This program helps This program helps further the goals of Indian Self-Determination by providing funds to tribes to administer a wide range of programs with broad administrative and programmatic flexibility. Programs include: law enforcement; tribal courts; scholarships; social services; road maintenance; forestry; agriculture; wildlife and parks; and water resources.

County Medical Services Program (CMSP) Local Health Connections Pilot Project Request for Proposals
Deadline: March 5, 2010

The County Medical Services Program (CMSP) Governing Board is pleased to announce the release of the CMSP Local Health Connections Pilot Project Request for Proposals (RFP). The Governing Board seeks to test the effectiveness of providing local-level services and support to designated CMSP enrollees and likely CMSP enrollees that have complex medical and/or social conditions. The goal of the project is to promote timely delivery of necessary medical and support services to the target population, improve health outcomes for the target population, link the target population to other resources and support, and improve the overall cost-effectiveness of expenditures made on behalf of the target population in comparison with expenditures made on similar CMSP enrollees that do not participate in the pilot project.

Promise of Nursing (PON) Regional Faculty Felowship Program

Registered nurses enrolled in graduate level, degree-granting colleges and universities in selected regions of the US may be eligible to apply for a Promise of Nursing Regional Faculty Fellowship (PON Fellowship). The PON Fellowship is designed to assist RN’s who are preparing for the nurse educator role to achieve their degrees.

HELP II Financing Program
Deadline: Ongoing

The HELP II Financing Program provides three percent, fixed interest loans of up to $750,000 to California's non-profit small and rural health facilities in an efficient, timely and cost effective manner. HELP II loans may be used to purchase or construct new facilities, remodel or renovate existing facilities, and purchase equipment or furnishings. Since the program's inception in 1988, the Authority has loaned more than $45 million to small and rural health facilities.

Wells Fargo California Grant Program
Deadline: Ongoing

Wells Fargo gives first priority to requests where the primary purpose of the grant is to benefit people and communities of low and moderate income.
Wells Fargo considers support of social and human service organizations whose work primarily serves low- and moderate-income populations in the areas of child care, health services and education, assistance with basic needs. Wells Fargo also provides grants to organizations that help people and communities of low and moderate income in the areas of affordable housing, training people to find and retain jobs, and community revitalization and stabilization as well as support for educational programs promoting academic achievement by low- to moderate-income students in pre-Kindergarten through the twelfth grade.

The Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) Announces U.S. American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) Awards

William Randolph Hearst Foundations
Deadline: Ongoing

The Hearst Foundations assist leading regional hospitals, medical centers and specialized medical institutions, such as children's and women's hospitals. The Foundations fund direct medical services that promote wellness, prevention and rehabilitation. Areas of interest include cancer, geriatrics, neonatology, perinatology, pediatrics, women's health, and the disabled. Support for advanced professional education and training is also considered in these fields. In response to the ongoing nursing shortage, the Foundations also fund nursing programs designed to enhance skills and increase the number of practitioners and educators in this field.

RGK Foundation
Deadline: Ongoing

The Foundation's current interests in the area of Medicine/Health include programs that promote the health and well-being of children, programs that promote access to health services, and Foundation-initiated programs focusing on ALS. All applicants must complete an electronic Letter of Inquiry from the Web site as the first step. RGK Foundation will entertain one electronic Letter of Inquiry (LOI) per organization in a twelve-month period. There are no deadlines for LOIs.
