American Public Health Association: Archstone Award for Excellence in Program Innovation

The Gerontological Health Section of the American Public Health Association is accepting nominations for the 2010 Archstone Award for Excellence in Program Innovation. The award identifies best practice models in the field of health and aging and provides recognition and an opportunity to highlight the work at the annual meetings of the American Public Health Association.

William T. Grant Foundation: Investigator Initiated Grants
Deadline: April 6, 2010

The William T. Grant Foundation supports work to improve the settings of youth between the ages of 8 and 25 in the United States. The foundation supports high-quality research designed to enhance the understanding of how youth settings work, how they affect youth development, and how they can be improved, as well as when, how, and under what conditions research evidence is used in policy and practice that affect youth and how its use can be improved.

Health Careers Training Program Mini Grants
Deadline: April 15, 2010

The Health Careers Training Program is now accepting applications to HCTP Mini-Grants RFA 09-9557 for funding of health career conferences/workshops and health career exploration efforts. A total of $138,000 is available. A technical assistance call is scheduled for March 25th. The application deadline is April 15, 2010.

HRSA's Rural Training Track- Technical Assistance Demonstration Program
Deadline: April 30, 2010

The Health Resources and Services Administration's Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP) is announcing a new funding opportunity, the Rural Training Track Technical Assistance (RTT-TA) Demonstration Program, to form a consortium of organizations to better understand the challenges that Rural Training Track (RTT) residency program sites have when recruiting family physicians to train and practice in rural settings. This consortium will work to identify and analyze the key policy issues affecting these rural training sites and, once these challenges and barriers are identified, to provide technical assistance to increase the number of family medicine physicians that choose to practice in rural areas.

The Aetna Foundation Grants
Deadline: May 15, 2010

For 2010, the foundation will focus its grantmaking on issues that improve health and the healthcare system in three areas: obesity (addressing the rising rate of obesity among U.S. adults and children); racial and ethnic healthcare equity (promoting equity in health and health care for common chronic conditions and infant mortality); and integrated health care (advancing high-quality health care by improving care coordination and communications among healthcare professionals, creating informed and involved patients, and promoting cost-effective, affordable care). Grant applications that address more than one of these areas will receive priority consideration.

California Healthcare Foundation Health Care Foundation Fellowship Program
Deadline: May 15, 2010

The goal of the CHCF Health Care Leadership Program is to prepare health professionals to assume significant roles in the improvement of California's health care system. The program seeks to enhance the leadership and management skills of health professionals who have demonstrated leadership ability and to create a network of leaders who will provide mutual support for improving the health care system for all California citizens.

HELP II Financing Program
Deadline: Ongoing

The HELP II Financing Program provides three percent, fixed interest loans of up to $750,000 to California's non-profit small and rural health facilities in an efficient, timely and cost effective manner. HELP II loans may be used to purchase or construct new facilities, remodel or renovate existing facilities, and purchase equipment or furnishings. Since the program's inception in 1988, the Authority has loaned more than $45 million to small and rural health facilities.

Wells Fargo California Grant Program
Deadline: Ongoing

Wells Fargo gives first priority to requests where the primary purpose of the grant is to benefit people and communities of low and moderate income.
Wells Fargo considers support of social and human service organizations whose work primarily serves low- and moderate-income populations in the areas of child care, health services and education, assistance with basic needs. Wells Fargo also provides grants to organizations that help people and communities of low and moderate income in the areas of affordable housing, training people to find and retain jobs, and community revitalization and stabilization as well as support for educational programs promoting academic achievement by low- to moderate-income students in pre-Kindergarten through the twelfth grade.

The Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) Announces U.S. American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) Awards

William Randolph Hearst Foundations
Deadline: Ongoing

The Hearst Foundations assist leading regional hospitals, medical centers and specialized medical institutions, such as children's and women's hospitals. The Foundations fund direct medical services that promote wellness, prevention and rehabilitation. Areas of interest include cancer, geriatrics, neonatology, perinatology, pediatrics, women's health, and the disabled. Support for advanced professional education and training is also considered in these fields. In response to the ongoing nursing shortage, the Foundations also fund nursing programs designed to enhance skills and increase the number of practitioners and educators in this field.

RGK Foundation
Deadline: Ongoing

The Foundation's current interests in the area of Medicine/Health include programs that promote the health and well-being of children, programs that promote access to health services, and Foundation-initiated programs focusing on ALS. All applicants must complete an electronic Letter of Inquiry from the Web site as the first step. RGK Foundation will entertain one electronic Letter of Inquiry (LOI) per organization in a twelve-month period. There are no deadlines for LOIs.
