A Call for Nominations: Board of Directors


The California State Rural Health Association (CSRHA) is pleased to announce it is soliciting nominations for members of the Board of Directors for the term beginning July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2009.

If you would like to put forward your own name, or if you would like to nominate a person to the Board, please read the information below. Only dues-paying members in good standing can nominate candidates to the Board. To determine if you are in good standing, please contact the CSRHA office at 916-453-0780 or email drose@csrha.org.

Board Composition

  • To ensure diverse and statewide representation, Board members shall be elected on a regional or statewide basis.
  • Each region shall be entitled to a total of three (3) seats on the Board. The remaining seats shall be elected at large.
Three regions shall consist of Northern, Central and Southern California:
Northern: Alameda, Butte, Colusa, Del Norte, El Dorado, Glenn, Humboldt, Lassen, Marin, Mendocino, Modoc, Monterey, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, San Benito, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Yolo, Yuba.
Central: Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Fresno, Inyo, Kings, Lake, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Stanislaus, Tulare, Tuolumne.
Southern: Imperial, Kern, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, San Diego, Ventura, Riverside, Los Angeles, Orange.

Qualifications

All Board members shall meet the following qualifications:

(a) Board members shall be at least eighteen (18) years old;
(b) No Board member shall be an employee of the corporation, or spouse or child, parent, or brother or sister by blood or marriage of such an employee;
(c) Board members shall, within sixty (60) days of election, acknowledge their acceptance of the position as a member of the Board either in writing or by attendance at a meeting of the Board;
(d) Only dues-paying members may sit on the Board.

Term

The term of office for members of the Board shall be for three (3) years and until a successor has been designated and qualified. The terms shall begin and expire at the annual meeting of the membership. No member of the Board shall serve for more than six (6) consecutive years.

Nomination Process

Step 1: Read the information above to determine if you qualify to be a Board member;
Step 2: Determine if you will be a candidate for a regional or statewide Board position; (Note: regional candidates can only be nominated by a CSRHA member in the same region)
Step 3: Read the information below to assist with nominating candidates to the CSRHA Board;
Step 4: Complete the potential candidate application. All sections must be completed;
Step 5: Email the completed application and attach a biography to CSRHA by May 25, 2006.

VALUE OF CSRHA: Board Membership reflects the ethnic, geographic and constituent diversity of rural California.

The Nominating Committee encourages candidates be nominated to the Board with consideration of (but not limited to) the geographic, ethnic and constituency diversity that is reflective of rural California.

To ensure that regional representation is obtained through the election process, CSRHA has changed its bylaws. New bylaws seek regional seats to be filled during this election. For your information:

  • Five positions are open for the CSRHA Board of Directors. You must vote for five different people.
  • One (1) Southern California regional seat will be filled during this election.
  • To ensure diversity of the CSRHA Board, the Nominating Committee has provided the list of categories below to assist with determining areas of need for the Board of Directors.
